The Economics of School Choice in England
Event details
Abstract: How are pupils assigned to schools in England? How should pupils be assigned to schools when there is over-demand? In the absence of a price mechanism in the public sector, pupils are typically given priority to their preferred school based on where they live. This seminar will discuss the implications of this for the residential market and school market, such as segregation and inequality in pupil attainment.
