Internal selection
Some fellowship schemes impose a limit on the number of submissions a university can make, meaning that an internal selection process will be necessary to select the candidates approved to submit ahead of the funder deadline.
The first step, before entering any internal selection process, is to ensure that the Director of Research and Impact (DoRI) and Head of Department (HoD) for the department that you would like to be homed in support your fellowship application. Please contact the relevant departmental DoRI in the first instance. Faculties may also choose to impose a limit of the number of submissions for a fellowship scheme and implement an internal selection process even if the funder has not stipulated one. The DoRI can discuss these processes and what it means for you and your proposal.
All internal processes apply equally to internal and external fellowship candidates.
