About this course:

A practical beginner's guide for researchers who want to start using AI tools confidently and safely.

Covers the landscape of available tools - including new additions to Microsoft Copilot - and how to evaluate AI outputs.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- navigate the current landscape of AI tools available to researchers.

- get started confidently and safely with Microsoft Copilot.

- write practical prompts for common research tasks.

- evaluate AI outputs and understand their limitations.

- identify which AI tools are appropriate for different research tasks.

The course is specifically designed Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers who are new to AI tools (including Microsoft Copilot) and want a confident, safe starting point.

Presenter(s):

This session is delivered by Dr Naomi Tyrrell.

Dr Naomi Tyrrell is an ICF-accredited coach, trainer and researcher with over 20 years? experience supporting people in universities, research organisations and non-profits, and four years of delivering AI training to researchers.

A former academic (PhD, 40+ publications), she places ethics at the centre of all her AI training and is the founder of Alt Ac Careers.
