Researcher Development : AI for Grant Writing
| Description | Theme: Education and Research Category: Education and Research This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers. This session will be DELIVERED VIRTUALLY - joining instructions will be provided beforehand.
About this course: This one-hour course introduces researchers to practical, responsible ways to use AI tools in grant writing. Participants will explore how AI can support idea development, literature review, structuring funding arguments and refining draft text, while maintaining their own voice, intellectual ownership and alignment with funder requirements. Handouts will be provided during the session via an online link.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:. - use AI tools to support grant applications, literature reviews and structure funding arguments. - write effective, well-targeted prompts for grant and funding applications. - maintain your own voice and full intellectual ownership when using AI-assisted drafting. - check AI-assisted content against funder requirements and compliance rules. - recognise the limitations of AI tools and avoid common pitfalls in grant writing.
Who should attend this course: The course is specifically designed Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers preparing funding, fellowship or grant applications who want to use AI tools effectively while remaining in full control of the intellectual content. Presenter(s): This session is delivered by Dr Naomi Tyrrell. Dr Naomi Tyrrell is an ICF-accredited coach, trainer and researcher with over 20 years' experience supporting people in universities, research organisations and non-profits, and four years of delivering AI training to researchers. A former academic (PhD, 40+ publications), she places ethics at the centre of all her AI training and is the founder of Alt Ac Careers. .
