Researcher Development : AI Ethics - What Every Researcher Needs to Know

About this course: Many researchers are already using AI but may lack clarity on data safety, institutional guidelines and the risks of trusting AI-generated content uncritically. This session addresses the ethical and practical dimensions of responsible AI use in research contexts.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:. - identify data sharing and confidentiality risks when using AI tools in research. - apply institutional AI policies and guidelines to your own practice. - recognise bias and hallucination in AI-generated content. - understand the implications of AI use for research integrity. - evaluate AI outputs critically rather than trusting them uncritically.
Who should attend this course: The course is specifically designed Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers who are already using, or considering using, AI tools in their research and want clarity on data safety, institutional guidance and responsible practice. Presenter(s): This session is delivered by Dr Naomi Tyrrell. Dr Naomi Tyrrell is an ICF-accredited coach, trainer and researcher with over 20 years' experience supporting people in universities, research organisations and non-profits, and four years of delivering AI training to researchers. A former academic (PhD, 40+ publications), she places ethics at the centre of all her AI training and is the founder of Alt Ac Careers. .
